I used to be one of those people who were like “hey it’s not all men okay I don’t want to be held responsible for this” but I think I’ve grown to understand what everything’s actually about.
It’s not about condemning men, it’s about condemning the system that favors them.
We shouldn’t be trying to defend ourselves, we should be fighting the system that places us above women, above other races, above anyone at all, because it’s not about us, it’s about them, and the equality we all deserve.
you have no place speaking for the lgbt demographic when you’re not a part of it sorry
oh wow i’m such a terrible ally what like…
Interesting point, but I do think it’s worth noting that when the n-word was reclaimed, it wasn’t done so in a derogatory manner, and not in a way that perpetuated racism. Now, if you want to use the word “gay” to mean “a super shiny awesome thing”, then that’s a totally different story. The issue that I, and apparently other people have with it, is that the word is being used in a way that means “bad”. That isn’t reclaiming it, that’s simply using a word that reinforces stereotypes, misconceptions and discrimination against sexuality.
